I love this pattern. Magic Slice and Dice is where you take four 4 1/2″ strips, place them on top of each other, cut 4 1/2″ squares and then turn the squares. All are identical but facing different ways. You can take the ugliest fabric and turn it into a beautiful quilt. The best thing, you sew it in rows, slice it, flip it around and resew. It looks like it is sewn on the diagonal. I have made about 6 of these – fish fabric, large flowers, asian and others. Try it.
Baby Quilts
This was really one of the easiest quilts to make. It’s basically squares and rectangles. It took little time to make and since a coworker just bought a new long arm, she did the work for free so she could practice. I used my Vermont Teddy Fire Bear for a focal point. I then made 2 more with the same design to present to a firefighter whose wife was expecting twins. Since I knew his were going to be boys, I used firefighter style fabric.
Hello world!
My favorite thing to do is to work with fabric. I started quilting over 20 years ago by taking a class through the city. We did the basic sampler. I have been hooked ever since.
I started quilting on my great aunt’s 1957 Singer. I used this extensively until I finally purchased my first Featherweight. My first batch of quilts were finished by doing the stitch in the ditch. Until I took a class, I never considered having my quilts professional done on a long arm. I now finish my own on a long arm unless it screams out for custom quilting. I have a friend that will do the custom work and she is fabulous.
I loved this fabric line. I made this for my cousin’s grandson. After 4 yrs, he still sleeps with it.
